Are you looking for ways to save money when you print?
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has recently implemented a change to the way that they print documents based on recent research. The school's printing costs currently run up to $100,000 per year and they estimate that they will cut this cost by up to 10%. So what did they do to save their school $10,000 a year?
They changed the type of font that they print on documents.
Different fonts require different amounts of ink to print. Printer.com, a Dutch company that evaluates printer attributes, has tested some popular fonts to see how "ink-friendly" they really are. Century Gothic and Times New Roman topped the list. Calibri, Verdana, Arial and Sans Serif were next, followed by Trebuchet, Tahoma and Franklin Gothic Medium.
Century Gothic uses about 30 percent less ink than Arial.
Other methods to save money on printing and help the environment is to print in "draft mode" whenever you can, print on both sides of single sheets of paper and always use the "print preview" function on your computer to ensure that unnecessary information (repeated footers, large backgrounds, etc) are not being wastefully printed.
What strategies do you follow to save on your printing costs?
