Training goes wild in Otago

Wednesday, March 03, 2010

I am so fortunate to have the job I do. I get to work with my fellow teaching colleagues around the country and sometimes with their students as well. It is not often I have the experience of having a wild animal join the training but just the other week this happened. I was at a school in Central Otago working with two teachers, one of whom was a teaching principal.

The training was going well and we were really buzzing, when out of the corner of my eye a large, long furry worm on legs darted across the room. At a second glance I realized it was a ferret!  Not a worm - but still large, long and furry. It nosed around the room while the teachers present, in unison, lifted their feet off the floor. No one screamed but help was quickly sort.

I will remember this story for a very long time. It doesn’t happen often.

Nicole from Southbridge sent this reply to a followup email I sent out regarding their training:
“I have used the mimio lots, its easy when you know how! The kids love the random numbers and exploring the galleries. The animal noises are a big hit! They laughed when I didn't realise I had hit the 'alarm' and couldn't understand why our phone had a different ring all of a sudden...”
